Spirit of Gaia
Seasonal Events 1 October 2024 - 15 October 2024
Come and celebrate the Spirit of Gaia festival with Nyms. It’s the time of the year when the seasons turn and the year slides into its last stage. The trees change into their most colorful garments and the wind blows colder each night.
Around this time Nyms celebrate the beginning and end of life. During the first part of October they come together to thank “Gaia” for giving them life, knowing one day they will go back to the soil from which they came. For Nyms life is a circle and they celebrate birth and death all the same.
During the festival Nyms collect Acorns and carve fine ornaments into their shells to give away or collect for themselves. At the end of of the two week celebration, the Acorns will be buried in the ground while making a wish. In the coming year a new life can sprout from the acorn~
Fallen leaves are used to decorate the towns and cities. Nyms use them to craft clothes and especially make masks out of them to wear at the great dance at the end of the month. Everyone also gathers to take part in huge feasts with lots of tasty food during the masquerade ball.
When the festival ends, Nyms write messages for their deceased family and friends on paper lanterns and float them down a river in hopes their messages reach Gaia~
